This morning I watched the Israeli Channel 2 morning program. The interview that caught my attention hosted two known figures, Dov Halbertal and Emily Amrusi, allegedly representing “left” and “right”, eagerly discussing “from both sides of the fence” the future of the Jewish nation and the State of Israel.

Two people who believe that some person sailed in an ark and survived a flood that covered the entire Earth. Two people who think that oil from a small can burned continuously for eight days (the “Hanukkah” story). Two people who learned and teach that mankind had been created from dirt. The same two people seriously discussed, “from both sides of the fence”, core issues of the Israeli and the Jewish existence – what risks it and what can save it.

If these are both sides of the fence, then the fence itself is sinking.
