One of the common religious claims about “creation” is that the world was created some 6,000 years ago with all the known scientific evidence already built into it. Sort of “God is trying us”. This claim of retroactive creation<\/b> makes little sense, and is already discussed here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

An interesting method of tackling this issue is by asking: So how many people were on the face of Earth, say, one year after this “creation” date?<\/p>\n

If you say “2”, you contradict many reliable findings we have from that era – from a time you say Earth already fully existed. You may of course extend the original claim and say that “God” has been keeping planting all kind of evidence even after the “creation”. This produces a world in which nothing means anything. We cannot even discuss things that happened a century ago. What if findings from that time were also “planted” by God? Perhaps there was no World War 1 at all? In fact we can’t even discussed things that happened 5 minutes ago. Perhaps the contents in the Internet, some of our memories – were also planted that way. What’s the meaning of the scientific method if the world has no clear rules and anything can happen at any time?<\/p>\n

However, if you say a couple of million people (the true scientific answer), then you contradict big time all Western religions – Judaism, Christianity, Islam and their various branches. You say that all you take from them is only<\/b> the date of the “creation”, but not the rest of the details. As for the rest, you choose to accept the scientific conclusions, which are by and large in contrast with religion altogether.<\/p>\n
