These are difficult times for the State of Israel. Many of us saw the brutal attack that took place on October 7, 2023, and many of us also see the war that is going on right now in the Gaza Strip. This specific post is not<\/b> about all that.<\/p>\n
However, there is a trend now, especially within people who are not really knowledgeable about the situation in Israel as well as about the Jewish religion, to detect publications and posts about the bad things found in the Orthodox Jewish religion (many of which are found in this very blog), and associate them with nowadays behavior of Jews and\/or Israelis.<\/p>\n
This blog examines ancient religious debates about the alleged intentions of “God”, among other things. The criticism here, and in other similar works, targets the existence of the content within its historical context. These ideas are not practiced by normative religious Jews or secular Jews today.<\/p>\n
Moreover, the modern State of Israel operates under a contemporary legal system, and not religious. Criticizing inappropriate old religious texts is a common practice in enlightened, civilized societies, and doing so is valuable. In contrast, this level of critical engagement is often less prevalent in Muslim-majority countries, a model Israel does not seek to emulate.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
